This project was designed as part of an Architectural competition for housing in the UAE. We enjoy design exercises like this one because it is a chance to be creative and learn about the cultural and architectural differences and similarities between two very different places.
This cabin was a fun exploration of what a contemporary cabin could be, private, view oriented and strong this cabin was designed to be adaptable to any different environment from desert to mountains.

Designed in response to the SB9 bill passed by the State of California which is aimed at increasing population density and providing more housing. This approach sub divides a standard size single family infill lot of Los Angeles creating two narrow lots both with frontage on the same street. This design modifies the classic visual of a single family house as to not disrupt the feeling of the neighborhood it would inhabit. The end result are two 3 bedroom 3.5 bath houses with a 625 square foot backyard and a large living room and kitchen, great for entertaining.
Originally designed for a client (COVID-19 had other plans) this small 950 square foot two story ADU has a prominent central kitchen and an abundance of outdoor living spaces split between the first and second floor. The kitchen has a dramatic high ceiling that also acts as the stair and walkway to the primary suite on the second floor. The high ceiling volumes and ample light from above serve to make this smaller size residence feel much larger.
Designed in response to the devastating palisades fire in 2025 this personal project showcases a fire resistant concrete design that conforms to the new regulations for rebuilding on PCH. This 3 bed 3 bath house sits on one of the smallest lots that line PCH, showing that even in a compact area with appropriate set backs, a robust fire resistant building can still exist.
This is a still evolving design exercise inspired by the modular nature of the Restoration Hardware show rooms. More to come soon
